Anthony Joshua, the British heavyweight boxing champion, has been subjected to vile anti-Islamic abuse after posting a picture of himself praying in a Mosque.
The boxing sensation shared the photo to his 800,000 Twitter followers earlier today and to almost 2 million followers on Instagram.
Since posting the image he has become a target of twitter trolls and racists, with some claiming they will no longer support him.
Some of the comments left on Joshua’s twitter included:
Joshua posted the photo with the caption: ‘Besides luck, hard work & talent.. Prayer is a solid foundation. It was nice to join my brother as he led through afternoon prayer (asr),’
He is not understood to be a practising Muslim but posted the image after experiencing the culture with friends who are Muslim.
Joshua doesn’t seem to fazed by the abuse and remains focused on his showdown with Klitschko at Wembley Stadium in what will be a box office record-breaking fight with over 80,000 tickets already sold.
