Crimestoppers is offering a £10,000 reward for information which leads to the conviction of those responsible for the ‘brutal’ murder of a grandmother who was severely beaten to death exactly one year ago.
Mumtaz Member, 56, was found dead with serious head injuries in her family home in Holmfield Avenue, Stoneygate, Leicester on December 12 last year.
She has been described as a “loving wife, mother and grandmother”
Initially her two sons, Mohammed and Shafiq and Shafiq’s partner, Fatima Patel, were charged with her murder but all charges against the three were later dropped.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Graham, of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s major crime team, said: “Mumtaz was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was taken away from those she loved in such tragic circumstances.
“The investigation into her death has been ongoing since December last year.
“Someone in the community knows who was responsible for Mumtaz’s murder and we need you to come forward, you could help us solve this crime.
“We are hoping the reward of up to £10,000 will generate further information and help us get justice for Mumtaz.
“She did not deserve to suffer like she did.”
Police also released CCTV images of potential witnesses they would like to speak to who were in the area around Holmfield Avenue on the night of 11 December and early hours of 12 December.
Det Chief Insp Graham said: “We would like to speak to these people as they may be able to help with our investigation.
