A drug dealer who got his own brother and sister to deliver heroin and crack cocaine across Cardiff has been jailed.

Nozomul Ali was jailed along with his sister, Fathia Begum, 26, brother Shanoor Ali, 24, and friend Michael Balmont, 28 at Cardiff Crown Court.

The court heard that Nozomul Ali had sold the drugs to other dealers in Cardiff and when business was booming he recruited his brother and sister and a friend to help him carry out the deliveries and pick up of the drugs.

His operation was only uncovered by police after a woman known for drug offences was seen going into Fathia Begum’s house, along with Nozomul Ali.

The woman was later arrested and 13.8kg of heroin was found on her during a search at Cardiff Bay police station.

Prosecutor Michael Hammett said:“A female called Laura Davies and Ali entered a property in Plantagenet Steet and stayed for a short time before returning to their respected vehicles and driving off.

“Laura Davies was stopped, arrested and taken to Cardiff Bay police station where during the course of a search, 13.8kg of heroin was found.”

Police later raided Fathia’s property and found £6,667 cash and drugs hidden around the house including in her dressing gown pocket.

A search warrant was also carried out at Nozomul Ali address were drugs and cash were seized along with a mobile phone with text messages showing various deals that had taken place.

Nozomul Ali, Balmont and Begum pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine.

The younger brother, Shanoor Ali, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine.

Sentencing, Judge Patrick Curran QC said: “The prosecution submit that you Nozomul Ali were selling large quantities of drugs to dealers and that’s borne out by exchanges on the phone.

“Fathia Begum, you were involved in dealing with the drugs at home while looking after your family and being asked by others to answer the door to callers and hand over packages which you were aware contained class A drugs. You had a misplaced sense of obligation to your brother.

“You Shanoor Ali were just involved on one occasion and involved simply in conspiracy to supply cocaine.
