A 29-year-0ld woman who attacked her partner with a knife after suspecting him of having an affair because he had a haircut and shave has been jailed.
Mother-of-four, Fatima Fardous became convinced that her partner, Mirza Raza, was seeing someone after she found out about his haircut and shave and pestered him with phone calls while he was at work.
Mirza returned home only to discover Fardous had smashed up their home, including the television and mirror.
Fardous then attacked Raza ‘straight away’ with a kitchen knife trying to stab him in the chest.
Mirza was able to react quick enough to avoid being stabbed in the chest but the knife went into his left arm.
Mirza fled the house after Fardous threatened to get another knife when she realised the impact of the first knife hitting bone had broken the handle.
Mr Raza told the court during the trial that the wounding had been an accident and Fardous denied the charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent but a jury found her guilty and she was jailed for four-and-a-half years.
Prosecutor Nick Adlington told Bradford Crown Court that Fardous he was not surprised that Mr Raza did not provide a victim impact statement and there was no application for a restraining order, The Telegraph and Argus reported.
Judge Neil Davey QC told Fardous: “Your anger had already boiled over by the time he got home from work.”
“He discovered that his home was in disarray with the television and the mirror both broken. That much he could see. What he could not see was the kitchen knife with which you had already armed yourself.
“An argument started straight away. You quickly produced the knife and tried to stab him in the chest.”
Fardous was jailed for four-and-a-half years.
